AGRITRAIN Programs

AGRITRAIN is a Gippsland-based industry advisory, recruitment and training company that delivers training in the agricultural industry under a partnership agreement with Wodonga TAFE (RTO 3097). AGRITRAIN offer short courses/workshops as well as full nationally recognised qualifications including Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30116) and Certificate IV in Agriculture (AHC40116). While your training and assessment may be done by AGRITRAIN trainers/assessors, you will be enrolled with Wodonga TAFE for any nationally recognised training.

AGRITRAIN employs experienced Gippsland based agricultural advisors/trainers with practical and technical knowledge across all agricultural industries. AGRITRAIN advisors/trainers have a minimum of tertiary qualifications in either Agriculture of Animal Health and have appropriate training qualifications.

Below is an example of some of the standard AGRITRAIN programs however AGRITRAIN encourages you to make contact to discuss if a program can be tailored to suit your needs.

Pre-apprenticeship Program;The AGRITRAIN Pre-apprenticeship program is a 12 week full-time program designed to induct people from a 'non farming' background into the Agricultural Industry. The 12 week program is limited to small groups and has a very 'hands on' approach. AGRITRAINS energetic and approachable trainers share their knowledge and allow students to gain basic skills in areas such as fencing, drafting, administering medication, pasture establishment, animal nutrition, First Aid, Chainsaw, Shearing Shed and Dairy operations. This program is not for those wishing to learn the 'theory' of Agriculture, it's for those wishing to roll up their sleeves and get in and learn some practical skills. This program is also suitable for individuals considering purchasing a farming or inexperienced hobby farmers.

The Classroom in a Paddock Program (Apprenticeships);The AGRITRAIN Apprenticeship/Traineeship program comprises of a series of employment based, 1:1 farm visits and off-farm workshops. AGRITRAIN recognises that all individuals and their employers have varying needs so training is customised to suit the individual. Additionally, where possible, AGRITRAIN tailors assessments to become a series of 'on-farm projects' to ensure that training is relevant and skills and knowledge gained is put into practice. AGRITRAIN acknowledges that some Apprentices feel isolated on farm so where possible, small groups of individuals in the same area will be brought together for training.

Farm Improvement Program;This AGRITRAIN farm improvement program is designed for Farm Managers/Owners/Experienced Farmers who are committed to continuous improvement, refining theory technical skills and increased productivity. Over a 12 month period, participants work 1:1 with their advisory/trainer to identify 'issues' on farm, source a solution and implement change/improvement. Generally participants take this as an opportunity to bounce ideas off a non-biased professional who does not have a vested interest in the transaction.

Workshops/Short Courses;

The below workshops are taken from aCertificate III in Agriculture(AHC30116) and Certificate IV in Agriculture (AHC40116). Depending on individual student requirements, these workshops are offered as part of a full course or as a standalone unit.

Artificial Insemination (Cattle): Ideal for the DIY Inseminator. On successful completion students are issued with 2 National Units of competency; AHCAIS303 Artificially inseminate livestock and AHCLSK312 Coordinate artificial insemination and fertility management of livestock

Pregnancy Testing (Cattle): On successful completion students are issued with 1 National Unit of competency; AHCLSK408 Pregnancy test animals

First Aid: On successful completion students are issued with Level 2 First Aid

AusChem: This course provides that required training for many industry quality assurance programs and is necessary to apply for the Victorian Agricultural Chemical Users Permits. On successful completion students are issued with 2 National Units of competency; AHCCHM303 Prepare and apply chemicals and AHCCHM304Transport, handle and store chemicals

Chainsaws: On successful completion students are issued with 2 National Units of competency; AHCARB205 Operate and Maintain chainsaws and FPICOT2239 Trim and cut felled trees

Rural Machinery: AGRITRAIN offer training and assessment in the following units of competency; AHCMOM202A Operate tractors, RIIMPO319A Conduct backhoe/loader operations, RIIMPO320D Conduct civil construction excavator operations, RIIMPO321B Conduct civil construction Wheeled Front End Loader Operations, RIIMP0318D Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations

Funding made available to eligible individuals by State and Commonwealth Governments. If funding is utilised, this may affect future opportunities to access additional funding in the future.
